Most of the job seekers tend to visit these workplace review sites and make their decisions based on the kind of reviews. Negative reviews in most cases are more likely to deviate job seekers from applying in a company. So how can recruiters deal with negative reviews in order to not affect the job seekers?
- Try to collect as many reviews as possible
Most probably, newly joined employees or recently appeared candidates for interview process will not hesitate from giving a review online. Once interview is done, recruiters may ask candidates to drop a review about the process. Recruiters can also mention it to new joinees during induction programs. This is the best bet for recruiters to increase positive reviews about the company.
- Ask long term employees to contribute
Employees who have stayed in a company for long knows the company culture better. Their reviews on workplace review sites can be helpful in attracting job seekers. Although this could be a risky step, the chances are there could be disgruntled employees who would not miss a chance to leave a negative review. Atleast, employees at management level can contribute.
- Respond to all reviews
No one can stop the reviewers to write what they want to. Be it a positive or a negative review, whatever comes, the employers should always consider responding to them as soon as possible. A prompt and polite response is a direct indication to the job seekers that the company cares about their employees.
- But do not over stretch the response
Mostly in case of negative reviews, do not engage in an online war of comments. The last thing a job seeker would want to see is a feud of negative comments and ignorance of employer to accept them. Just end with a gentle statement that company would connect to you at the earlier to hear you opinion. Even if it is a positive review, do not boast about it either.
- Play the role of moderator as well
Usually workplace review websites do not allow deleting or editing a review. In such cases recruiters can play the role of a moderator. If a review is defamatory recruiters might request the website support team to authenticate the same and if possible delete it. Or even if a reviewer want to change a previously submitted review recruiters can also ask help to make modifications.
Taking a job offer in a company is surely an important decision for any job seeker. Company review sites do help provide some important insights into company culture and employee satisfaction.
